Milford Woman Caught Between Two Metro-North Cars Dies

The incident occurred earlier this week at Grand Central Terminal.

A Milford woman died earlier this week after she was caught between two Metro-North railroad cars and dragged along the platform at Grand Central Terminal, the New Haven Register reports.

Joan M. Dehm, 62, was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Dehm was found underneath the platform after the train left, the paper reports. The train was stopped at the 125th Street Station for inspection and a separate train was sent to pick up passengers.

The MTA police are currently investigating the incident.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal called the accident “shocking and appalling” and one that “requires a full investigation” by the Federal Railroad Administration, according to the CT Post.

Joan M. Dehm, age 62, of Milford, beloved wife to the late James M. Dehm, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Born October 30, 1952 in Beacon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Helene Devine Cummings.

A lifelong resident of Milford, Joan graduated from Milford High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, Joan was dedicated to her patients and took exceptional care of them. She was devoted to her four children, always putting them first. An avid hockey fan, Joan will be remembered for her love of her children, her strength and sense of humor.

She is survived by her children Derek, Maura, James and Kristin Dehm, sister Diane Recchia, and countless numbers of friends and patients that she considered family. In addition to the love of her life James, Joan was predeceased by her brother-in-law Mike Dehm.

Friends and family may call on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service being held at 6:30 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, December 23 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Milford Cemetery, 35 Gulf Street, Milford, CT.
