Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile Virus in Milford

Milford health officials urge residents to take precautions.

The State Mosquito Management Program announced Wednesday that mosquitoes trapped and tested by the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in Milford tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Milford Health Director Deepa Joseph said September is the peak month for West Nile Virus activity in Connecticut and she urged residents to maintain their properties so they can prevent mosquitoes from breeding.

Joseph added that Milford continues to apply mosquito larvacide to mosquito breeding sites throughout the city.
