Mother and Daughter Busted in Family Feud

A mother and daughter were busted at their Milford home after fighting over the daughter's toddler, police said.

The incident unfolded Thursday afternoon when cops received a complaint of a disturbance at 44 Sunnyside Court, according to police.

Vania Martins, 54, and her daughter, Isabelle Martins, 23, who both live in the house, were arguing over the daughter's baby, who's nearly two years old, police said.

The argument escalated into a fight, where Vania Martins allegedly  slapped her daughter in the face, and Isabelle Martins allegedly hit her mother, scratching the older woman's nose, according to police.

While Isabelle Martins claims she was holding her toddler during the fight, Vania Martins maintains her grandchild was just nearby, not in anyone's arms, police said.

"Investigation led to the arrests of Isabelle and Vania Martins who are accused of engaging in a physical altercation with each other, resulting in Vania sustaining a minor laceration," police said.

Vania Martins was charged with risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct, according to police.

The younger Isabelle Martins was charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct and third-degree assault, police said.

Both were released on promises to appear in court, according to police.
