
Nancy J. Amann, age 92, of Milford, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the Masonic Care Center in Wallingford.
Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Arthur F. Amann. She was born on November 15, 1933, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Frederick and Myrtle Nolting.
Nancy dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. She worked at Park City Hospital and later at Pond Point Nursing Home, where she was honored with the distinguished Nightingale Award for her exceptional care and compassion for her patients. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Nancy was a member of the first graduating class of Milford High School in 1951 and went on to set an example for many throughout her life. In the early 1970s, she returned to school and earned her nursing degree from the University of Bridgeport. She later continued her education, earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Nutmeg College in Hartford. In her 70s, Nancy once again pursued higher education, earning a master’s degree in psychology from Southern Connecticut State College. Nancy loved to garden, paint, and play the piano, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Nancy will be sadly missed by her sons, James Amann and his wife, Theresa, of Milford, and Paul Amann and his wife, Katherine, of Milford; her brother, Ronald Nolting and his wife, Sybil, of Georgia; and her seven grandchildren: Jay Silver and his wife, Seton; Harry Hemstock and his wife, Angela; Amy Mikulski and her husband, Stephen; Mark Silver and his wife, Kerry; Nicole Wilhelm and her husband, Jim; Rebecca Grabowski and her husband, Hunter; Abigail Amann; and granddaughter in law, Melissa Silver . She is also survived by her fourteen great-grandchildren: Megan Rizzo and her husband, David; Corey Silver; Allyson Hemstock; Meagan Samuel and her husband, Joshua; Andrew Silver; Emily Silver; Victoria Wilhelm; James Wilhelm; Nicholas Wilhelm; Cameron Mikulski; Bobby Mikulski; Austin Silver; Gianna Silver and Bennett Grabowski.
Nancy is also survived by her great-great-grandchildren: Faith Samuel, Evangeline Samuel, Harper Rizzo, and Autumn Rizzo. Nancy also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Arthur, and her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her daughter, Doreen Amann Silver; her son, Mark Amann; and her grandson, Timothy Silver.
Family and Friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford, Connecticut. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Milford.
