Naugatuck Residents Find Purse, Use Debit Cards to Buy Gas and Groceries, Police Say

Police said instead of turning in the missing purse, they used the victim's debit cards to purchase items.

This is the opposite of being a Good Samaritan, allegedly speaking of course.

Naugatuck police say two residents, Danielle Ruff, 39, and Dominique Ruff, 19, both of Prospect Street, are accused of finding a lost wallet on the street and allegedly used the victim’s credit card to purchase gas, groceries, and movie tickets without permission.

Police said on Friday, Danielle Ruff, was arrested on an active arrest warrant. Police say she found the victim’s pursue, which was lost in the area of North Main Street.

Danielle and Dominique Ruff allegedly used the victim’s debit cards to purchase gas, groceries and a movie ticket without the victim’s permission, police said.

They were both charged with credit card theft by transfer, illegal use of a credit card, and receipt of money/goods/service by illegal credit card use.
