Darlene Hultgren Obituary
Darlene Anne Wildman Hultgren, 69, of Milford, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday,
December 5, 2024, in New Haven. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years,
Harry Knute Hultgren Jr.
Born on July 30, 1955, in Bridgeport, CT, Darlene was the cherished daughter of the late John
Edward Wildman and Sophie Varaska. She is survived by her loving son, Ryan Hultgren, of
Milford, and her brother, John Wildman, of Throop, PA.
Darlene recently retired after a long and fulfilling career as an office administrator at a local
dental practice. She was a dedicated member of the East End Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary for
many years, where she devoted much of her time and energy.
Darlene had a passion for gardening, often sharing her beautiful flowers and homegrown
vegetables with friends and family. A talented crocheter, quilter, and embroiderer, she created
countless blankets and afghans as treasured gifts for her loved ones. Her skills extended to the
kitchen, where she delighted in cooking and baking, always welcoming others to her table for a
meal.
Family traditions were at the heart of Darlene’s life. She was the cornerstone of gatherings,
hosting annual Christmas dinners, Fourth of July picnics, and lively family game nights. Her
commitment to bringing people together was matched only by her love of animals, as she was a
passionate supporter of animal rescues and the Milford Police K9 Unit.
Darlene will be remembered for her immense love of family, her sharp wit, sense of humor, and
warm smile. She loved deeply, cared tirelessly for others, and had a unique ability to unite those
around her.
In addition to her son and brother, Darlene is survived by many brothers- and sisters-in-law,
cousins, nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to
