Frank Clifton Rohrig, Jr, age 90, of Milford, beloved husband of 61 years to the late Elaine Marie (Urbanowicz) Rohrig, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Cherished father of Scott Rohrig (Ana) of Milford, Mark Rohrig of Milford, Jeffrey Rohrig (Carolyn) of Venice, FL and Cindy (Rohrig) Holveck (Bill) of Whitingham, VT. He is also survived by his brother, Gary Rohrig (Ilona) of Durham and his eight grandchildren, Casandra Holveck (Scott), Pierce Holveck, Jared Rohrig, Joseph Rohrig (Bianca), Jeremy Rohrig (Kara), Chelsea Casey (Logan), Justin Rohrig and Jeffrey Rohrig and three great grandchildren, Jaxon, Sawyer and Vincent. In addition to his parents and wife, his sister, Barbara Mastrianni predeceased him. He was born on November 13, 1934, in Mount Vernon, New York, the son of the late Frank and Ella (Blenniss) Rohrig. Frank proudly served his country for four years in the US Navy during the Korean War. Frank had a 28-year career with the Milford Fire Department along with a 20-year period as a realtor. He also owned and operated several businesses. Upon his retirement in 1989, he sought out to help those in the elderly population for the second half of his life. Frank went to Gateway Community College and earned his associates degree in Gerontology and then obtained his bachelor’s degree at Southern Connecticut State University. He worked at the South Central CT Agency on Aging for five years. After leaving both, he volunteered on behalf of the elderly and passionately dedicated his life to writing and fighting for women's gender equality rights. Frank (aka: Poppy to the grandchildren) loved “making the rounds” to visit all the kids, grandkids, and the Lasse’s staff. He was a proud father and grandfather always sharing stories of his family’s accomplishments. He will be greatly missed and remembered dearly. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD. Interment with Military Honors will follow at King’s Highway Cemetery, Milford. Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
