Passenger Grabs Steering Wheel Forcing Crash in Milford: Police

The vehicle crashed into a set of stone stairs, Milford police said. BREAKING

MILFORD, CT — A Milford man is accused of grabbing the steering wheel of a moving car, which led the vehicle to be involved in an accident, police said in a news release Wednesday.

Police said on Tuesday officers took custody of John Miner, 39, of Clark Street in regards to two active warrants for his arrest.

Miner is accused of causing a motor vehicle accident when he was a passenger in a vehicle and he grabbed the steering wheel, swerving the vehicle off of the roadway crashing it into a set of stone stairs on Aug. 12, police said.

Miner is also accused of violating his court set probation, police said.

He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and violation of probation.
