Victim ID Released In Fatal Drowning: Milford Police

The victim was rushed to the hospital Friday afternoon but died hours later, police say.

Milford Police have identified yesterday’s drowning victim as Gregory Wilson, 57, who most recently resided in Milford, police said Saturday.

UPDATE: Sad news tonight as Milford Police say the man who was pulled from the water Friday afternoon has died at a local hospital.

"The male rescued from the water earlier today has passed away while being treated at an area hospital. His body will be transported to the M.E. Office in the morning. Detectives are currently working to notifying his next of kin as they continue their investigation," Milford Police said.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

An adult male was found floating face down in the Point Beach area of Milford early this afternoon, said Battalion Fire Chief Anthony Fabrizi. A 911 call was received at 2:51 p.m. stating that a man was floating in the water on the shoreline beach area at the end of Platt Street.

Bystanders managed to pull the man to dry ground and initiated CPR under the instruction of fire dispatchers, Fabrizi said.

Milford Fire Paramedics quickly arrived on scene and provided advanced life support to the victim.

"Witnesses stated that they saw the man enter the water and begin swimming, but found him floating approximately ten minutes later. Further updates to follow," Fabrizi said.


UPDATE: Milford Police say they are seeking help in identifying the person who was pulled from the water this afternoon at Point Beach. The white male is believed to be 50-60 years old. He was wearing blue shorts black shirt and gray sneakers carrying a tan towel, police say.
