Plans Call For Closure Of 2 Milford Elementary Schools
Both scenarios for the future of the Milford schools call for closing two elementary schools, the district says.
MILFORD, CT — A consultant has outlined two scenarios for the future of Milford's elementary schools. Both involve the "eventual closing" of Calf Pen Meadow Elementary School and Meadowside Elementary School, according to a district statement.
"We want to be clear that this decision will not take effect immediately and will not impact the upcoming school year," the statement reads. "This will be a years-long process, and throughout that time, we are committed to supporting every student, family, and staff member."
A presentation from consultant Perkins Eastman outlined two possibilities: one in which six elementary schools are renovated-as-new, and the other in which six elementary schools are completely rebuilt.

"Both of these scenarios will allow us to design spaces that meet today's needs for all students, including specialized instruction such as Art, Music, World Language, STEM, and special education services," according to the district.
The district noted that class sizes will not increase with this change. No specific construction timeline has been established.
