The Rain Didn't Block Our Evening Under The Stars

Featured Foran HS Planetarium Shows Hosted by David Mestre, Director, Henry B. duPont III Planetarium, Bridgeport's Discovery Museum

On November, 9th, The Milford Education Foundation hosted their third annual Evening Under Stars to a sell out crowd on a very rainy night at Joseph A. Foran High School. The event featured one of Milford’s hidden treasures, the planetarium at Foran High School. Few people know that Foran High School has a planetarium and the Foundation uses this event to showcase this and promote other education outreach initiatives they conduct for the local community.

“Foran high school's wonderful planetarium is truly a Milford treasure that still has the evocative ability to make us look up and wonder,” said David Mestre, Director at the Henry B. duPont III Planetarium in Bridgeport’s Discovery Museum. Mr. Mestre hosted the planetarium shows and brought his passion for astronomy and astrophysics to an engaged audience of children and adults of all ages.

“This is an event, that is fun, and enlightening for all ages, and helps us raise some funds and share with the community some things we are passionate about,” said Ed Faruolo, president of The Milford Education Foundation, “expect more to come from us!”

In between the shows the audience was entertained by the Foran High School Jazz Band. In addition there were kids games and activities, food trucks and a well attended exhibit by Miford Robotics.

Coming up for Milford Robotics, two Milford teams will be competing at the Ridgefield qualifier tournament Saturday, November 17. The event is free and open to the public.
