Rep. Kennedy Sworn In For Second Term
The state rep took the oath of office in an outdoor ceremony Jan. 6, while voting on the House rules via Zoom in her legislative office.

On the north steps of the Capitol in Hartford on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, State Representative Kathy Kennedy (R-119) joined 150 legislators in the House of Representatives in being sworn in, taking the oath of office in an outdoor ceremony while voting on the House rules via Zoom in their legislative office.

January 6, 2021 is considered Opening Day for the legislature as it marks the beginning of the 2021 legislative session that will conclude on June 9, 2021. Rep. Kennedy who was sworn in as state representative for the 119th General Assembly District, which includes the city of Milford and the town of Orange, indicated that fixing the state’s ailing budget, assisting unemployed residents and hurting businesses get back to work will all be top priorities.
"To me, public service has always been important, it has an even greater importance to me as we move into 2021 after a year working together battling Covid," said Rep. Kennedy. "We must change our focus. We must rely on each other, support each other, and commit to working together for a better future – a better Connecticut. I realize there will be struggles, but I have hope for success and collaborating with my colleagues, and most importantly listening to my constituents. Most of all we must respect one another."
