Replacement For JCPenney's At Connecticut Post Mall Announced

MILFORD, CT — Connecticut Post Mall and Boscov’s announced that the Reading, PA based department store chain will open its second New England location at the shopping center later this year. Boscov’s, with annual sales over one billion dollars, is the largest family-owned department store in the country. They operate 46 locations in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio and Connecticut.

Boscov’s will enlarge and completely remodel the former JCPenney at CT Post Mall by expanding the storefront on the center’s first and second level to occupy a total of 200,000 square-feet. The store is projected to open in October and will create 300 new jobs.

"Boscov's offers shoppers the retail experience that they are looking for," said General Manager at Connecticut Post Mall, Ken Sterba, in a prepared statement. "This is a brand that prides itself in its commitment to customer service, exceptional quality, and merchandise set at a great value. We know our community will embrace the addition of Boscov’s to our already diverse mix of retailers."

Boscov’s – which is celebrating its 104th year in business – is known for its wide selection of merchandise, honest pricing, and outstanding service. Boscov’s stocks a full range of brand-name merchandise including apparel and accessories for men, women and children, home furnishings, toys, cosmetics, small appliances, and even has a candy department. The store features a community auditorium, which will host famous entertainers, enlightenment courses and community events. They also offer free gift-wrapping regardless of the price of an item.

Centennial, the center's ownership group, is equally excited about this new addition to CT Post Mall.

The Boscov’s brand is unique in its commitment to serving each of the local communities it calls home, and has a long history of charitable programs and activities, officials said. Throughout the year, Boscov’s holds fundraising and awareness events for local community non-profit organizations and the new Milford location will be no exception, officials said.

Connecticut Post Mall and Boscov’s look forward to releasing more information about Grand Opening celebrations later this year as the store prepares for an October opening.
