Robert S. Gavlik, 86, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Rita Frances Suchy Gavlik, passed away peacefully in his home on August 28, 2024. Born on May 25, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Stephen J. and Anna Gavlik.
Robert “Bob” delighted in his daughters, Donna (Frank) Caraglio, Cindy Jossick, and Roberta Gavlik (John Lebel). He is loved and missed by his three grandchildren, Alora (Frank) Coppola, Frank Robert Caraglio (Katherine Rice), and Dana Jossick, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bob grew up in Bridgeport, CT, and graduated from Harding High School in 1957 where he was an all-around athlete excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and track & field. He served for several years in the Army Reserves and was a former member of Ansantawae Masonic Lodge No. 89. He was a printer by trade, starting his career at Columbia Records and then moving to Lettick Typographic prior to becoming a teacher of the trade at Bullard Havens Tech in Bridgeport. He retired as Graphic Communications Department Head after 28 years. During that time, he coached many sports teams including volleyball, basketball, soccer, and golf. Over the course of his tenure, he was also class advisor for several graduating classes. Bob was an avid golfer and a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. Over the years, he and his wife enjoyed many adventures as they traveled throughout the United States and internationally.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. Interment will take place privately.
