Robert V. Brett, Jr.

Robert V. Brett, Jr. age 94, of North Chesterfield, VA and formerly of Milford and Hamden, entered peaceful rest on March 31, 2023.

He was born on February 15, 1929, in Chicago, IL and was the son of the late Robert V. and Elsie Brett. He was a graduate of Purdue University and was a member of the Glee Club where he enjoyed singing and traveling with them. He was honored to be invited back to Purdue to sing in the 100th Anniversary Concert.

Before graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country. Robert spent his career in banking. He worked for the Second National Bank, State National Bank, CBT and Bank of America. He enjoyed playing bridge, golf, tennis and coaching his son’s baseball team. After he moved to Virginia, he cherished the friendships developed with the bridge groups at Stonebridge Recreation Center and St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Special thanks to his close friend, Al Fontana, for the years of playing bridge, golf and tennis together.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert V. Brett III of North Chesterfield, VA and son-in-law, James Tweedie of Milford. He was predeceased by his wife, Lois Brett and his daughter, Susan Tweedie. Services will be held in private.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First United Church of Christ, 34 West Main Street, Milford, CT 06460 In Memo Susan B Tweedie Scholarship Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
