Seal Photographed Hanging Out In Milford

MILFORD, CT— The city of Milford shared a photo of a beautiful seal seen just hanging out in Milford at Caswell Cove Marina. Some folks on the city's Facebook page said the seal has been spotted for the past week.

The photo was taken by Scott C. Harper on Sunday. Harper told the Milford Mirror that he got very close to the seal for the photo and the animal looked very healthy.

Dave Sigworth, publicist for the Maritime Aquarium, told the Milford Mirror that it's a harbor seal, which is present around here each winter. There aren't a lot of seals around but it's also not uncommon he told the Milford Mirror.

Sigworth added that the seal is protected and it's illegal for anyone to bother them or touch them. Seals also bite, he stressed.
