27,000 Connecticut Residents Without Power Wednesday Night
Strong wind gusts and storms have caused numerous power outages across Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — More than 27,000 Connecticut residents are without power as of Wednesday evening as strong wind gusts knocked down trees and power lines across the state. Severe storms were also reported in parts of the state too.
Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph were reported. Eversource is reporting 27,000 outages as of 7:45 p.m. including: Enfield 2,939; Guilford 2.811; Woodstock 1,467; Brooklyn 1,253; Mansfield 1,132; Portland 1,048; Thompson 1,028; and Bethel 1,013.
Towns with 500 or more outages include: East Granby, East Lyme, Granby, Killingly, Pomfret, Putnam, Somers, and Stafford.

United Illuminating Co. is reporting 700 power outages.

ENFIELD - Currently State St, Abbe Rd North of Powder Hill Rd, Virginia Ave and Charles St are all blocked by trees down, police said. Storm Update. Eversource has crews in route to King Street, Bailey Road, Simon Road and North Maple Street to address power outages. Several streets will regain power once these streets are restored.
NEWTOWN - Road Work on I-84 Westbound between Exits 10 and 9 (3.4 miles) in effect today until Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 am. The right lane is closed. Reported Wednesday, October 7 at 6:56 pm.
NEWTOWN - Road Work on I-84 Eastbound between Exits 9 and 10 (3.8 miles) in effect today until Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 am. The left lane is closed. Reported Wednesday, October 7 at 6:59 pm.
EAST WINDSOR - SR 510 (South Main ST) is Closed at Spring St, Tree down in wires. Reported Wednesday, October 7 at 6:18 pm.
ORANGE - Road Work on RT15 Northbound between Exits 57 and 58 (0.2 miles) in effect today until Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 am. The right lane is closed. Reported Wednesday, October 7 at 6:58 pm.
WESTPORT - Road Work on RT15 Southbound between Exits 42 and 40B (3.9 miles) in effect today until Thursday, October 8 at 6:00 am. The right lane is closed. Reported Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm.
COLEBROOK - RT8 Northbound CLOSED At the MA State Line, Trees down. Reported Wednesday, October 7 at 6:34 pm.

A wind advisory remains in effect until 2 a.m. West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
