Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Southern Connecticut

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch includes Fairfield, New Haven and Middlesex counties. Here's what you need to know.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Fairfield, New Haven and Middlesex counties until midnight, and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for northern sections of Fairfield County. A severe thunderstorm was moving through central Fairfield County as of 7 p.m.

Some of the storms may include "damaging winds."

The National Weather Service says, "Showers and thunderstorms are possible this evening as a pre-frontal trough affects the region tonight into early Friday morning. A cold front also approaches and passes through by early Friday morning. High pressure builds in for the weekend resulting in dry weather.

"Temperatures will be seasonable tonight while highs Friday are forecast to be above average, in the 80s. Although temperatures will be warm, humidity levels will continue to decrease. Low
humidity levels will also carry into the weekend. Lows Friday night and highs Saturday are forecast to be a few degrees below average."
