Sharon Denton Belfonti, 79, of Orange, CT passed away on January 5, 2026

Sharon made her house a home and was always so welcoming to friends and family.

Sharon Denton Belfonti, 79, of Orange, CT, beloved wife of John David Belfonti, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 5, 2026. Born November 24, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Arlene Denton.

Sharon grew up in Bridgeport, CT and moved to Derby, CT after grammar school and graduated from Derby High School. She worked as a secretary for a number of companies after graduation and met her loving husband, John, where she worked as a secretary and John was an engineer. When John decided to start his own company in 1969, Sharon was with him every step of the way supporting him in his new venture. She and John had two children, John and Kara and she was a wonderful mother to them. She was actively involved in John and Kara’s lives serving as a room mother, field trip chaperone, and never missed a game that her kids played. As the kids got older, Sharon worked as a part time travel agent, helping people plan their vacations using her own experiences and her love of travel as a guide. Sharon and John traveled the world and really enjoyed learning about other cultures, traditions, history and of course, their food. Sharon was an accomplished cook and baker and loved teaching what she knew to her children and grandchildren. Sharon created many special holiday traditions for her family which will continue to live on. She and John took the family and grandchildren on many wonderful vacations in the USA, Caribbean, and Europe. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading a good novel with her cherished dogs on her lap. Sharon was a wonderful grandmother or “Mimi” to her 5 grandchildren, Andrea, Vera, Jack, Cameron and Maya. Mimi played an important role in the lives of her grandchildren and attended every school and extracurricular event including school plays and concerts and sporting events. Sharon made her house a home and was always so welcoming to friends and family. She had many special friends with whom she enjoyed yoga classes, theatre, shopping, exercise classes and her pool in the summer. She will be greatly missed.

Sharon leaves behind her children, John Christopher Belfonti (Sharon M. Belfonti) and Kara Belfonti DelVecchio, grandchildren Andrea, Vera, Jack, Cameron and Maya, siblings Marilyn Urbanowicz (Dale), Stanley Denton (Jeanine), Lori Tomlinson and Ronnie Rogers, and many special nieces and nephews.
