Golden Corral Announces Closure Of Milford Location
The popular buffet chain's closure now means there are no Connecticut locations left in the state.
MILFORD, CT — Apparently we weren’t that hungry after all. Golden Corral has closed its only location in Connecticut as of 9 p.m. Monday.
The buffet restaurant opened to much fanfare and hype in Connecticut when it opened in the spring of 2017. The news came out of the blue Tuesday as Golden Corral — Milford deleted its Facebook page and only posted this brief message:
"It has been a privilege serving our loyal customers and fans who regularly traveled across our state and New York to dine here with your family and friends. We especially appreciate the many staff members for their contributions, their smiles, and their hard work."

At one point, Golden Corral said the Milford location would employ up to 200 people. On social media there were reports that employees had no advance notice of the closure. And reviews of Golden Corral's food were not good, to put it bluntly. On Yelp it received two out of five stars based on the average of 141 reviews.
One reviewer posted saying, "If I could give it no stars I would. This was my first and last time here. The salads on the salad bar were dried out and crusty on the tops, the lettuce was yellow and brown must have been at least a week old. The green beans, carrots and lime beans must have been reheated for several days, there was hardly any color in them. There was no labels on most all of the mush that they called food, which most of it was unrecognizable. There was a hard crust on what looked like an orange cheese sauce, when I moved the ladle it cracked, I don't want to know how long that had been there for. The waitress asked why I had no food, I told her and she said she works there and wouldn't eat there!!!"
