Shooting at Howard Johnson's in Milford Leads to Major Drug Bust

Milford police were investigating after a man was shot in the buttocks late last year and ended up finding drugs in the room.

Milford police said at 9:20 p.m on Nov. 2 at the Milford Police Department received a suspicious activity complaint from the Howard Johnson Hotel, 1052 Boston Post Road Milford, CT in room #191.

During the course of this investigation it was determined that a male had been shot in the buttocks by a known assailant during a robbery in the same hotel room, police said.

In conjunction with the FBI task force and Statewide Narcotics Task Force, the Milford Police Department was able to secure an arrest warrant for Bryce Barnes, 22, of 206 Malcom Road in West Haven, to whom the hotel room was registered to, police said.

The following items were seized from the hotel room: 48.7 grams of marijuana, small plastic packaging baggies, 2 bundles of heroin and 13 bundles of Oxycodone among other items, police said.

Bryce Barnes was located and arrested on Feb.1.

Barnes is charged with the following: possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession of marijuana, and possession with intent to sell.

He was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
