Shooting Victim Arrested In Drug Bust: Milford Police
The victim was hospitalized after suffering a graze wound to the head. A West Haven man was also charged in the incident, police said.
MILFORD, CT — A shooting victim was arrested after officers found large quantities of marijuana and a gun at a home in Milford last month, according to police.
Police responded to Gulf Street on June 13 on the report of a person shot.
Officers found the victim, later identified as 22-year-old Sean Cleary of Milford, who suffered a graze wound to the head, according to police.

Police said he was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
“Officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence to ensure there were no additional injured victims or suspects still inside,” police wrote in a news release. “During this protective sweep officers observed large quantities of suspected packaged marijuana throughout the home. The detective bureau responded and assumed the investigation. A large amount of marijuana as well as several other types of drug paraphernalia was located inside of the residence and seized.”

Police said a gun with an obliterated serial number was also found inside the home, along with a high-capacity magazine.
An investigation led to arrest warrants being issued for Cleary, along with Jacques Schapira, 28, of West Haven, who police said is also believed to be involved and was present during the shooting incident.
Cleary was arrested July 25 and charged with possession with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more cannabis-type substance, conspiracy to possess with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more cannabis-type substance, operating a drug factory, alteration of a firearm identification mark and illegal possession of high-capacity magazine. He was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
Schapira was arrested July 24 and charged with possession with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more cannabis-type substance and conspiracy to possess with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more cannabis-type substance. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond with a court date of Aug. 21.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
