Shoplifter Elbowed Security Officer In Face: Milford Police
A man is accused of shoplifting, then getting into a scuffle with store employees. Police made several other arrests in recent days.

MILFORD, CT — A Southport man is accused of stealing items from a Milford store, then getting into a scuffle with two store employees, according to police.
Police responded to a call at Bob's Stores at 195 Cherry St. on Wednesday for a report of a shoplifter in custody.
The loss prevention officer said they saw the man take merchandise and put it in a shopping cart. The man then went to a dressing room and exited wearing the items. He left the store without paying for the items, police said.

The loss prevention officer then approached the man, who became combative, and they got into a scuffle. The man elbowed the loss prevention officer in the face, according to police.
A store manager attempted to detain the man, but he grabbed the manager's legs, causing him to lose balance and fall, police said.

Both the loss prevention officer and the manager suffered minor scrapes.
The merchandise the man stole was valued at $197.98. Police found he also had two shoplifting devices.
He was charged with third-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny, and possession of a shoplifting device. He was released on a promise to appear in court.

- A New Haven woman was arrested Wednesday in New Haven and turned over to Milford police on an active arrest warrant related to a shoplifting investigation last year. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court.
- A Bridgeport man was taken into custody Thursday for an active arrest warrant out of Stamford for second-degree failure to appear in court. Bond was set at $50,000.
- A Greenwich man turned himself in to police Thursday on an active arrest warrant related to a domestic violence case. He was charged with criminal violation of a protective order and second-degree harassment. Bond was set at $5,000.
- A Milford woman was charged with evading responsibility Thursday. She was released on a promise to appear in court.
