UPDATE: Still No Swimming At Silver Sands Beach Due to Bacteria Count
If tests show bacteria levels have receded, the beaches can be reopened.
Update, Wednesday, June 17: Even though the sun is out and the temps are 80 degrees, the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says Silver Sands State Park is still closed for swimming.
Two other state parks remain closed for swimming.
Original post on Tuesday, June 16: Four state park beaches are closed to swimming as a result of elevated bacteria counts detected by water quality testing.

The four beaches are:
- Silver Sands, Milford
- Kettletown, Southbury
- Sherwood Island, Westport
- Indian Well, Shelton
New test samples were taken at all four locations today and results are expected tomorrow. If tests show bacteria levels have receded, the beaches can be reopened.
