Smash-and-Grab Mayhem: Mall Jewelry Heist Suspect Busted After Bold Robbery: Milford PD
Three thieves smashed glass cases and stole up to $50,000 in jewelry, then returned to burglarize the mall that night, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man is facing a litany of charges in connection with a smash-and-grab robbery at a Connecticut Post Mall jewelry store, according to police.
Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting "shots fired" at the 1201 Boston Post Road mall on Oct. 20 at 12:32 p.m.
Officers responded and found no shots were fired, but that the glass displays at the Oxford Jewelers kiosk had been smashed and jewelry was stolen.

Three males had smashed the glass cases and stole $45,000 to $50,000 worth of jewelry, according to police.
That same evening at 9:51 p.m., the suspects returned to the mall by shattering a glass door, resulting in $1,800 worth of damage, police said. The suspects fled in another vehicle as mall security arrived.

Following an investigation, police arrested Jakyii Grant, 19, of Bridgeport, on March 25.
He was charged in the first incident with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief. He was also charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief.
He was held on a total of $100,00 bond and taken to Milford Superior Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
The owner of Oxford Jewelers has said that thieves have hit his kiosk three times in the last two years.
He said the criminals are fast, often completing their task in under 20 seconds. They smash the glass, grab valuables like gold, silver, and diamonds, then flee.
