Smiles/Milford Amusement Site Demolished

Plans are in the works for a retail strip mall anchored by a drive-thru Panera.

And there is officially no more Smiles as crews this week demolished the former teen amusement center, which for many residents in and outside of Milford still holds many memories of their youth.

All that remains is the rubble of the demolition as contractors make way for a new strip-mall featuring a drive-thru Panera Bread and other retails shops.

The Boston Post Road site will be the future home of a drive-thru Panera, Verizon and a possible sporting goods store.

The site includes a 7-½ acre parcel but the developer is only developing approximately 36,000 square feet.

The site at 1607 Boston Post Road has remained empty since it abruptly closed in August 2011. At the time it was believed home gaming and increased competition led Smiles to close.
