UPDATE: Downtown Fire Quickly Extinguished, Milford Businesses Evacuated

The fire was originally detected by Liquid Lunch customers, but it was actually coming from an adjacent business.

Milford Fire Capt. Gregory Carman said at about 11:30 am, an odor of something burning was reported by the occupants of Liquid Lunch at 85 Broad St.

Fire crews began to investigate and found the a fire was in the adjoining business, The Green Cleaners.

The fire was confined to the wall and and the roof area above, Carman said. It took about half an hour to fully extinguish the fire and check for any extension to the other parts of the building.

All occupants had evacuated safely and there are no injuries reported. The Fire Marshal’s office is on scene to investigate and there is no determination on the cause as yet.

NBC Connecticut reports that Broad Street is closed between High and Lafayette streets and motorists can utilize Route 1 as a detour.
