A special weather statement has been issued for southern Connecticut Thursday. Here's what you need to know.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — A special weather statement has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of southern Connecticut Thursday morning.
"Fog was widespread across southern Connecticut into the lower Hudson Valley early this morning with visibilities reduced to generally less than a mile, with patchy dense fog with visibilities as low as a quarter mile. Conditions are expected to slowly improve this morning as light rain moves into the region.
"Motorists should exercise caution and be prepared for rapidly changing visibilities. Slow down, and allow extra distance between vehicles. Also, use low beams in the fog," the weather service wrote.

Today: Rain likely, mainly after 2pm. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tonight: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 8pm. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 43. Light north wind.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Friday Night: Showers likely after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 44. South wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday: Showers. High near 55. Southeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 55.
