Snow Accumulation Estimates Released For Southern CT: Here's How Much To Expect

The National Weather Service has released initial snow accumulation estimates for a winter storm on Monday and Tuesday.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — We're finally talking about some real snow for southern Connecticut. The region may see some snow showers on Saturday which could produce a coating of snow and then there is a chance for a larger storm on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting snow to begin Monday afternoon and continue through the night, though there may be some rain mixing in at the coast. The snow and possibly rain is forecast to continue on Tuesday.

So how much snow accumulation? The National Weather Service in its initial estimate is forecasting 2-4 inches on the immediate shoreline as rain is forecast to mix in too. Originally, the weather service was estimating 3-5 inches but that has been reduced now to 2-4 inches.

Areas away from the immediate coast are forecast to see 3-7 inches of snow.

The storm is a few days away, and it's expected that the estimates will evolve, but the weather service shared its initial projections on Saturday.

Monday/Tuesday snow details via WFSB 3 TV

"Monday starts dry with some sunshine as clouds build gradually through the day. Right now, all eyes are on a storm system we have issued an *ALERT* for that starts Monday evening and lasts through Tuesday. Based on the latest guidance, it looks like it starts off as snow and possibly could changeover to mix, even rain. There is still too much uncertainty to nail down specific totals but it definitely looks possible to see several inches of accumulation through Tuesday."
