SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut due to the chance of snow squalls Saturday afternoon, which could create a "brief burst of heavy snow."

The weather service said, "A polar front will cross the region Saturday afternoon, with potential for a line of snow showers and embedded snow squalls to affect the region with a brief burst of heavy snow, northwest winds gusts of 35 to 45 mph, and temperatures dropping towards freezing. Roads could become hazardous if this event materializes."

Snow squalls are possible between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, according to the weather service. If the snow squalls materialize, a half-inch to an inch of snow is possible in a short period of time, the weather service said.
