Special Weather Statement Issued for Southern Connecticut
The National Weather Service has just issued a Special Weather Statement for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for Southern Connecticut Sunday afternoon. The weather service cautions residents about black ice forming.
Here is the NWS special weather statement: Temperatures will plummet through tonight well below freezing. As these temperatures fall, plenty of residual moisture and leftover standing water on area roads will freeze, or remain frozen. This will lead to areas of black ice. Anyone out driving or walking should be prepared for slippery roads and walkways, and use extra caution."
On the positive side, the winter storm warnings and advisories have now been cancelled for Southern Connecticut. But there are 30,000 Connecticut residents without power as of 3 p.m.

Temperatures are forecast to plummet around sunset tonight, dropping to about 0°. Any areas that are wet right now are going to freeze over and turn to ice. If you absolutely need to travel, be incredibly cautious – black ice can be very deceiving.
