Good Thursday morning Connecticut,

For most of us we received a nice coating of snow this morning and some areas received a couple of inches of snow. That seems to be the end of the snow chances for a while and the next weather story will be a rain event for most of Saturday with temperatures rising into the 60s.

Temperatures will be a lot warmer beginning on Saturday and continuing through next Wednesday, with daily high temperatures into the 50s each day.

Did you know speed traps are coming to Connecticut highways in 2022? WTNH News 8's Jodi Latina shares the details of how this will work.

Automated cameras will be set up at select highway work zones and will take a photograph of folks speeding, and you'll receive a ticket in the mail, Latina reports.

A picture will be automatically generated if you're traveling in excess of 15 mph of the highway work zone speed, which is typically 45 mph. The first violation results in a warning, but then it's a monetary fine, $75 and then $150 for repeat offenders.

Proponents say it will save lives and prevent accidents, which have been on the rise. The program begins in the summer of 2022 and precise locations have not yet been selected. (Read more about this program at WTNH News 8 and learn why the state police union is so opposed to this).
