2017 St. Mary School Milford H.O.P.E.S. Award Recipients

Archbishop Leonard P. Blair, Provost of Education Sr. Mary Grace Walsh, and Superintendent of Catholic Schools Dr. Michael Griffin saluted 76 volunteers from 38 Catholic elementary schools at the 40th annual HOPES (Help Our Parish Elementary Schools) Dinner on Monday, October 16th. Each volunteer received a St. John Neumann Award for their unwavering commitment to their schools. St. Mary School is proud to recognize Alberto Acevedo & Kristen Luzzi as this year's worthy recipients! Al and his wife put 3 students through St. Mary School over the last 17 years. They both have given countless hours to serving the school community. Al served as President of the HSA for several years, but his lasting gift to the school was his chairmanship of the annual Carnival for so many years. His leadership, organizational skills and good will have made that event among the most profitable both in dollars and cents, but also in good will and overall school and community spirit. Kristen and her husband have had two sons go through our school. In recent years she was the co-chair of the carnival running the food tent, the top money maker for this event. In addition, she chaired the kitchen portion of the school annual Basketball Tournament. Thanks to her help, these two events bring in almost half of the school fund raising dollars.
