In his younger years, he loved spending quiet hours fishing, and as time went on, he took great pride in caring for his yard and garden.
Stephen L. Bates, 60, of Milford, passed away on February 8, 2026, at his home in Milford, CT. Stephen was born on March 6, 1965, in Derby, CT, to the late Richard and Nancy Bates.
Stephen was a kindhearted man with a gentle spirit and a truly good soul. Independent by nature, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. In his younger years, he loved spending quiet hours fishing, and as time went on, he took great pride in caring for his yard and tending to his vegetable garden.
Stephen is survived by his brother Allen Bates, brother Brian Bates (Paula Phelan), nephew Jeremy Bates (Allison), great niece Amelia Bates, and great-nephew Jameson Bates. He was predeceased by his brother Roger Bates.
