Stephen P. Piantedosi, 65, of Middletown, passed away on April 3, 2025

A U.S. Army veteran, Stephen was passionate about helping others and had a lifelong love for animals.

Stephen Paul Piantedosi, 65, of Middletown, CT, passed away on April 3, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1959, in Bridgeport, CT, to Anthony and Antoinette (Deveitro) Piantedosi.

Stephen was a devoted husband to Ellen (Hayles) Piantedosi for over 25 years, often speaking of how lucky he was to have her as a partner to go through life with. He was also a loving father to Amanda Piantedosi and Megan (Eric) Ruff. He was a proud grandfather to Sophia Ruff. He is also survived by his sister, Ellie (Tim) McFadden, and his loving sister-in-laws, Catherine (Al) Sylvestre and Debi Hayles, and brother-in-law Jon Hayles. Stephen leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Piantedosi.

A U.S. Army veteran, Stephen was passionate about helping others and had a lifelong love for animals. His biggest joy was his granddaughter Sophia, who brought him immeasurable joy. He loved showing her off on his Facebook page whenever he got the chance. He has a special place in his heart for the many cats he rescued over the years, often going above and beyond to care for those in need. An avid animal lover, Stephen believed in rescuing anything that needed a helping hand. He also had a passion for gardening, sharing all of his crops with those around him.

Stephen’s vibrant personality and sense of humor made him a beloved figure among family and friends. He had an innate ability to connect with others and always found joy in making people laugh and keeping in touch with those around him.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on June 21, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Carmine’s Di Vega in New Haven, CT. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to animal rescue organizations in Stephen’s honor.
