Warnings, Advisories Issued In Advance Of Significant Storm For Southern CT
Here's the timeline and expected impacts from this major storm that will have significant impacts on southern Connecticut.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — A strong coastal storm will bring significant weather impacts to the I-95 corridor towns from Greenwich to Stonington, according to the National Weather Service.
A coastal flood warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 4 a.m. Tuesday for Fairfield County. "One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline," the weather service said.
"Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas is expected near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront," the weather service said concerning Fairfield County. "Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays."

A coastal flood advisory has been issued for New Haven County from midnight until 4 a.m. Tuesday. "One to locally two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline."
"Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding is expected in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline," the weather service said concerning New Haven County. "Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. A few spots may see moderate flooding with road closures, flooded vehicles, and basement flooding."

Wind advisory for all I-95 corridor towns, details via the weather service
The wind advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday. "East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected."
"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.," the weather service said. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered."
Wind advisory for inland sections of Middlesex and New London counties:
A wind advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday. "East winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 45 mph expected," the weather service said.

"Deepening low pressure will produce strong winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding tonight."
Peak Winds: 25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. A few locally higher gusts possible. Strong winds will blow down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. A few/scattered trees and power lines could be downed. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Heavy Rain: Around 1.5 inches of rain is expected.
Coastal Flooding: Minor to Moderate flooding. The most significant flooding is expected to be along the western portion of Long Island Sound.

Today: Increasing clouds, with a high near 55. North wind 5 to 14 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
Tonight: Rain, mainly after 10pm. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 42. Windy, with an east wind 14 to 19 mph increasing to 24 to 29 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Tuesday: Rain, mainly before 8am. High near 54. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Breezy, with a west wind 11 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 9 to 11 mph.
