Susan D. Briggs, 83, passed away on March 5, 2025.

Susan was a devoted parishioner of St. Agnes Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and a sense of belonging.

Susan D. Briggs, 83, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Richard Briggs, passed away on March 5, 2025. Born on May 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Helena (McGoldrick) Dever.

Susan graduated from the University of Bridgeport, where she embarked on a career that reflected her compassion and care for others. As a visiting nurse for many years, she provided exceptional care to those in need, always putting others before herself. Her professionalism and warm heart made her a trusted figure in the healthcare community. Later in her career, Susan served as the Director of Nursing at West Haven Nursing Home and Bentley Gardens. Susan loved working with the elderly population and was very well respected and endeared by both the residents and the staff. Susan was a devoted parishioner of St. Agnes Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and a sense of belonging. Her commitment to her faith was matched by her passion for staying active. Susan was a member of Milford Tennis Association but also enjoyed playing and excelling at golf, badminton, beach volleyball and skiing. Some of her most treasured memories are those of skiing with her family and dear friends at their ski house at Mt. Snow. Participation in the Milford Oyster Festival canoe races, the Owner’s Ski Races at Season’s in VT-(where she would always place in her age bracket!) and winning the extremely competitive egg toss at Club Med in the Bahamas with her husband Rich were some of Susan’s sports highlights. Susan loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether it be a large holiday gathering or a small summer BBQ. Times with their many and treasured friends and extended family were some of her fondest memories and the ones she reminisced about so often. Sue possessed a kind heart, a grateful and peaceful spirit, and a genuine care and compassion for all. Sue would always express gratitude to any small act of kindness she was shown. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all, and will be so very missed. Susan’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the attentive staff at Carriage Green, where she resided for the last several years.

Susan is survived by her children, Robert Briggs, (Laura) and Patti (Brian) Droney; her grandchildren, Eric Briggs, Meghan (Mez) Abebe, and Keira and Kyle Droney; her brother, Eugene (Virginia) Dever; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends, and her grand pup Holly, whom she loved so dearly. Susan was predeceased by her sister, Patricia (Maury) Davitt.
