Suspect Identified in West Shore Middle School Threat Case: Police

Milford police say charges will be filed against the person who threatened students and the school community there.

Milford police say they have identified the person who sent threatening messages to West Shore Middle School students, and an arrest is pending. The threat led to the school’s closing on Wednesday as police investigated and later deemed it non-credible.

“Investigators have been collaborating with out of state law enforcement authorities regarding an individual police have identified as being responsible for this incident,” said Milford Police Sgt. Jeffrey Nielsen. “Further investigation has revealed that the original threat was made by an individual using an acquaintance’s user name and password information to access their social media account.

“The individual allegedly distributed threatening messages to students of the West Shore School community. The threat was determined to be non-credible on June 10, 2015 after the suspect was located at his residence out of state. Police are continuing with the investigation and criminal charges are pending for this individual.”

The Milford Police Department Detective Division has been diligently investigating the origin and credibility of the threat involving West Shore Middle School. Investigators have developed information that the threat is non-credible and that the source of this threat in not local. As a result of these developments, the Milford Board of Education will be resuming school services at the West Shore Middle School on June 11, 2015. A School Resource Officer will be assisting the Milford Board of Education tomorrow.

Police are continuing with this investigation. June 10, 2015

The Milford Police Department is actively investigating a complaint regarding a threat made through social media concerning the West Shore Middle School community.

Investigators are working to identify the source and credibility of the threat, which is believed to be low at this time. The Milford Board of Education has suspended school services at this location for June 10, 2015 to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. The police department will continue to support the Board of Education with this situation. In addition to the four School Resource Officers, the police department will be providing an increased police presence and assistance to our schools in Milford.
