Theresa B. Mihalov

1934-2024

Theresa B. Mihalov, 89, of Milford, beloved wife for over 40 years to the late John G. Mihalov, passed away on July 16, 2024. Born on July 23, 1934 in Sainte-Martine, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Lucien and Jeanne (d’Arc Doyer) Boutin.

Theresa was born the second eldest of 13 children in a small village 25 minutes south of Montreal. In 1961, she married the love of her life, John G. Mihalov, and they relocated to Bridgeport, CT. Theresa became a U.S. citizen in 1966 and the family lived for a brief time in Stratford before settling in Milford, where they made a wonderful life together until John’s passing in 2001.

Theresa had a deep passion for gardening and cultivated a beautiful array of roses, African violets, and a towering Christmas cactus that flourished under her care. Theresa's green thumb was matched only by her culinary skills; she delighted in preparing meals for her family, creating dishes that brought joy and togetherness to the table.

Theresa was renowned for her homemaking prowess, maintaining a household where cleanliness and order were paramount; she could truly claim to have a home where one could "eat off of the floor". Her knack for removing stains from any fabric became legendary among her friends and family.

In addition to her talents at home, Theresa was a skilled duckpin bowler, a passion that saw her active in several leagues across Milford and Bridgeport. Her competitive spirit was balanced by her love for quality time, often taking her granddaughter on shopping adventures in search of the finest items.

Theresa’s greatest joy in life was her role as a mother and grandmother. She cherished her two sons and four grandchildren dearly, showering them with love and guidance throughout their lives. Her firm yet loving demeanor created a nurturing environment that shaped their characters. As a grandmother, Theresa loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them how to bake, playing games and spoiling them whenever she could.

Later in life, Theresa embraced the opportunity to travel, embarking on memorable journeys, including a special train trip to Northern Canada with her beloved sister. These adventures enriched her life and provided cherished memories that she held dear until the end.

Theresa is survived by her sons, John (Dawn) Mihalov, and Paul (Lori) Mihalov; her grandchildren, Lauren, Alexander, Jack, and Max; her sisters, Jeanine, Angele, Andree, Louise, and Diane; her brothers, Roland, Jean, Jacques, and Gilles; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Theresa was predeceased by her siblings, Yvette, Bertrand, and Marcel.
The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to caregivers who have worked with Theresa through the past few years and to the Boas and Sims units within Mozaic Senior Life.
