Timeline Of Heavy Rain Released For Southern Connecticut

Our run of amazing weather comes to a screeching halt today. Here are the details on the sudden change to our forecast.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — Our run of terrific weather officially ends this afternoon. Heavy rain and possibly some thunderstorms are expected to break out early Monday afternoon and continue through the evening hours and into Tuesday morning.

One to two inches of rain is expected before dry weather returns later on Tuesday. Wednesday night the rain will return and continue on Thursday and we could see more thunderstorms on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Chances for showers increase this morning as a warm front approaches from the south. The rain will come down moderate to briefly heavy at times. There may also be a rumble of thunder from late morning on. With cloudy skies and rain, temperatures will be below normal for this time of year, in the 60s and lower 70s."

"The warm front will lift north tonight, and the associated cold front will cross the region on Tuesday allowing the chance of showers to continue through Tuesday morning. Dry conditions
should return by Tuesday afternoon as the cold front pushes offshore and high pressure builds in."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Dry and cool weather for the morning hours today. Rain showers coming in for the middle of the day with rain for the afternoon and evening. High temperatures only in the 60s to low lower 70s. I’m expecting rain and high humidity for tonight. The rain will end tomorrow morning with sunshine for Tuesday afternoon. Nice weather on Wednesday followed by another round of rain for Thursday!"
