
Timothy Mead Obituary
Timothy Robert Mead, a lifelong resident of Milford, passed away quietly on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Born on May 21, 1949 to the late Robert and Lucille Mead, he was the beloved partner of 16 years to Alcyne Welton.
Tim graduated from Milford High School and was employed by the City of Milford until his retirement. He loved country music, photography and cheering on the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Brooklyn Nets, and UCONN Husky basketball.
Tim served his country in the United States Army 34th Infantry Platoon Scout Dogs 1st Cavalry Division.

He was a proud Army Veteran, Vietnam Veteran, and member of the Connecticut National Guard.
He was a lifemember of the American Legion East Shore Post 196 Milford, VFW Travis C. Kitchen Post 7788 Devon, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 Milford.

Tim was a member of 40 and 8 Voiture Locale 328 New Haven County, Vietnam Dog Handler Association Chapter 627, National Association Department Historians of the American Legion, founding sponsor of the Army Historical Foundation, and member of the Governor’s Foot Guard. He was also a member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Tim was Past District Commander American Legion New Haven County, Past Department Historian American Legion Connecticut, Past Department Vice Commander American Legion Connecticut, and Past Commander VFW Post 7788 Devon. In addition, he was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Honor Guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and Color Guard for VFW Post 7788.
Tim is survived by his partner Alcyne Welton, stepson Patrick Welton, sister Heidi Mead, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tim was predeceased by his sisters Jill Mead Wheeler and Judi Mead Girard and his wife, Janet Mead.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Mary Church Precious Blood Parish, Milford. Visitation will be from 8:00am – 9:30am prior to Mass at the DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford.
Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
