Truck Overturns On I-95 In Milford, All Lanes Reopen: UPDATE

Lanes were closed for several hours after a dump truck overturned on I-95. Traffic is spilling over onto the Post Road.

UPDATE: There is good news as of 3:30 p.m. the right and center lanes have reopened after a dump truck crash on Interstate 95 in Milford. Only the right shoulder is closed. Traffic is still congested for nearly six miles though.


MILFORD, CT — A dump truck overturned on I-95 southbound between exits 38 and 36 in Milford late Thursday morning. The right and center lanes are closed, according to the state Department of Transportation. The incident was reported around 11:10 a.m. The DOT reports congestion between exits 40 and 36.

The accident is not cleared as of 2 p.m. Connecticut State Police are asking motorists to avoid I-95 south bound just prior to exit 36 in Milford. Use alternative routes to avoid heavy delays. Fortunately there are very minor injuries reported and no other vehicles were involved, State Police said.

Milford Police advised motorists that many are exiting at 39A or B and that there is heavier traffic backup than usual on the Post Road.
