Liquor Stores Charged With Selling Booze to Minors

But was the punishment just a slap on the wrist?

Two liquor stores in Milford have been charged with selling liquor to minors, according to state officials.

The first, identified as , has paid a $3,000 fine and its license to sell liquor will be suspended on Jan. 3, 2012, said officials from the state Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Commission.

The second, identified as has been suspended from selling liquor from Jan. 9 through Jan. 24, officials said.

Question is this: Are these fines and suspensions just slaps on the wrist? Why not prohibit the stores from selling liquor around Christmas and New Year's Day? Why wait until after the money-making holidays?
