Unique Coffee Shop Opens In Milford

MILFORD, CT — A new coffee shop featuring traditional Yemeni coffee and specialty drinks has opened in Milford.

Sahara Coffee Co., located at 1454 Boston Post Road, recently welcomed its first customers. The shop offers traditional coffee preparations along with signature drinks such as the Pistachio Gold Latte and Saffron Vanilla Latte.

The business was founded by Hamza Al-Hameedi, 23, who began his entrepreneurial journey in high school by operating ATM machines, according to a press release from the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Al-Hameedi saved money from his earlier business ventures to pursue his dream of opening a coffee shop.

Sahara Coffee Co. draws inspiration from Yemen's longstanding coffee traditions, with a focus on introducing customers to different flavors and cultural experiences.

Following its opening, the business thanked customers for their support.

"Our hope is to bring something new to Milford. A place where a cup of coffee becomes a conversation, familiar faces become friends, and every visit feels warm and personal," the business wrote on Facebook.

The Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the shop on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m.

The event will give residents an opportunity to meet Al-Hameedi, learn more about the business and sample its organic coffee.

The ceremony is open to the community.
