Victim Kidnapped At Knifepoint, Calls For Help At McDonald's: Milford Police

The suspect encountered the victim near a boat ramp, pulled out a hunting knife, and demanded he drive him to Stamford, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A man is accused of kidnapping a victim at knifepoint in Milford, police said.

Police were dispatched to the McDonald's at 1376 Boston Post Road on June 2 at 1:07 p.m. on a report of a possible carjacking.

Police were told the suspect, Alexander Mathews, 28, of Milford, fled on foot carrying a knife.

Police found Mathews near exit 39 and took him into custody.

An investigation found that Mathews pulled out a hunting knife on the suspect at the boat ramp behind 57 New Haven Ave., according to police. He took the victim's phone and demanded the victim drive him to Stamford.

Mathews made the victim stop at McDonald's for food, which is where the victim was able to call for help as Mathews had the knife in his pocket while ordering, police said.

Mathews was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree threatening, and second-degree breach of peace.

He was held on $75,000 bond and taken to court June 3.
