Bazso's Pizza & Restaurant is a small Italian place across from the beach in the Woodmont section. There is an outdoor patio for warm evenings.
My kids and I recently went to meet co-workers there for a pizza party.
There are only five or six sturdy wooden tables inside, so we pushed a few together to make a suitable fit for at least a dozen people.

We decided to skip appetizers and dive right into pizza.
Well, first we ordered our beverages. For soda, Bazso's serves Foxon Park in bottles {2.00}. I always enjoy when establishments serve locally made products.

Three large steaming hot pies were brought to our tables. Both my daughter and my son dined on slices of mozzarella. Two thumbs up from the kiddies. They each had three slices. As expected, they were happy with their soda treats.
As for myself, the aroma combined with the visual forced me to try all three pies. Once I sunk my teeth into that slice of mozzarella (large 9.95) I thought it just might be the best tasting thin-crust cheese pizza I have ever had. Mystic Pizza has been No. 1 in my eyes for quite some time. Now, I don't know. The cheese pizza at Bazso's is simply thin yet so flavorful at the same time. Homemade sauce combined with that yummy cheese oozing from the pizza was close to heaven.
It's a good thing I grabbed a piece of the clams casino pie before the other vultures did. That pie went fast! The clams casino (large 16.95) is a white pie with whole baby clams, bacon, garlic, green pepper, parsley, olive oil and mozzarella. I don't mind clams, but I am also not a big fan of them either. Let me tell you this: the taste of the clams with the bacon on this pizza was a perfect merge of flavors. It was love at first bite. I could taste the garlic, parsley, olive oil, everything at once. Scrumptious! Writing this leaves me wanting another one.
I could have done without all the peppers on the pizza. I really didn't feel there was any need for so many of them there but, you know what? In reality it really didn't matter because the clams casino was THAT good. It left such a good taste in my mouth.
The broccoli rabe pie (large 15.95) didn't go as fast as the mozzarella and clams casino, but it was decent. It was a white pie with broccoli rabe, sausage, mozzarella, garlic and olive oil. The broccoli rabe was not bitter at all and went well with all of the other flavors. Definitely tasty.
Tiramisu was the only dessert choice so that is what we had. I only had a few bites because I do not prefer coffee flavors. I must say, however, it was delicious. There was just a hint of coffee flavor. The mascarpone cheese with the cocoa was incredibly rich. No wonder they only offered one dessert that night. The tiramisu was good enough to stand alone on the dessert menu.
All foods at Bazso's are prepared homemade, from the breads to the salad dressings. I will be dining soon to try some of their pan specialties.
The service was accommodating and friendly. Cleanliness was top notch. The bathroom was pretty cool since patrons can write comments on a wall with chalk from a basket. My little guy had much fun with that.
"Little place with big taste" is their motto. I agree.
If you'd like to dine at Bazso's, they are open seven days per week from 5 to 10 p.m. Dine in or take out. Mastercard and Visa are accepted.
