2 Charged with Larceny After Stealing Laptops: Police

Police said a laptop was stolen from a Monroe home and another laptop was stolen from Fairfield University's Library.

MONROE, CT-- Monroe police have arrested two men for an incident that occurred on Captain's Hill road on August 4, 2015, according to a police report.

Police said the victim reported that a work laptop and work-related items in a bag totaling over $1,400 was stolen from him vehicle shortly after midnight.

In January, Fairfield Police investigated the theft of a laptop and personal items from the Fairfield University Library, police said. During their investigation, detectives identified suspects involved in the case and executed a Search Warrant on the home of Deshawn Fields, the report said.

Police recovered the laptop bag belonging to the Captain's Hill Road victim and learned Deshawn Fields and Melson Spruill were together when driving through the Captain's Hill Road neighborhood checking if people locked their cars.

Deshawn Fields, 22, of Bridgeport, was arrested on March 28 for third degree burglary, fourth degree larceny.

Melson Spruill, 28, also of Bridgeport, was arrested for fourth degree conspiracy to commit larceny, third degree conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal liability burglary and criminal liability larceny.

They were released after posting $20,000.00 court set bond and will appear in court on April 6, 2016.
