2 Drivers Hospitalized After Crash In Monroe: Fire Officials

MONROE, CT — Two drivers were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Monroe Turnpike, according to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.

Monroe volunteer firefighters, police and EMS responded to the crash on lower Monroe Turnpike Monday evening, fire officials said.

One of the vehicles went off the roadway and struck a commercial sign, according to the fire department.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital by Monroe EMS. Officials did not provide information on the extent of their injuries.

Firefighters contained fluids that spilled onto the roadway, shut off power to the damaged sign and assisted EMS personnel and police with traffic control, according to the department.
