2 Juveniles Arrested for Attempted Burglary

A police K-9 helped track one of the two teens after he fled following an attempted break-in of a Monroe home.

Two teens were arrested for attempted burglary after triggering an alarm of a Monroe homeowner.

Monroe Police responded to a burglary alarm called in by the alarm company on Saturday at 12:45 a.m. on Bart Road. The homeowner was awakened by the call from the alarm company. When officers arrived, they found a window removed and the screen cut, according to a police report.

Another officer in route noticed a suspicious male with a backpack running through the yard of a home on Harmony Lane. The officers pursued the suspect who they lost in the woods.

While police searched the area, another call was received at 1:21a.m. from a resident on Deep Wood Circle, in the Northbrook Condominiums, who reported a suspicious male who rung her doorbell asking if she ordered cookies.

A Milford Police Officer with his K-9 responded to the scene of the burglary and tracked the 16-year-old from Bart Road to the exact location where the suspect was found on Deep Wood Circle. The Shelton teen was taken into custody.

After an investigation, Shelton Police caught a second 16-year-old Shelton teen attempting to sneak back into his house.

Both juveniles were arrested for second degree criminal attempted burglary, attempted criminal trespassing, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief. They were released into the custody of their parents.
