Additional Funds Approved For Judd Road Bridge Replacement In Monroe
The Judd Road construction effort is anticipated to be put out to bid in early 2024.
**News Release Submitted by Monroe First Selectman Ken Kellogg**
In 2021, the Town, working in collaboration with MetroCOG, secured a $1 million grant from the state Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) for the rehabilitation of the Judd Road bridge that spans between Monroe and Easton. Monroe is serving as the administrating agency, through an agreement with the Town of Easton, and has facilitated the design phase of the project, which Monroe and Easton are funding equally. The construction costs will be funded through LOTCIP.
Due to the substantial increase in the estimated construction costs since 2021, along with their further evaluation of this project, the design firm recommended that the bridge be replaced instead of rehabilitated. I am pleased to report that the state DOT has approved this change in scope, along with a corresponding funding increase of almost $845,000.
This construction effort is anticipated to be put out to bid in early 2024.
